Bulgaria tourist information

Bulgaria, ‘The Jewel of the Balkans’, lies at the heart of the Balkan peninsula. It has rugged mountains in the northwest and modern vacation resorts on the beautiful shores of the Black Sea. Visit the capital Sofia’s gold-bricked centre, the Rila Monastary with Bulgaria’s most treasured art on it’s walls or just relax on the sandy beaches of the city Varna. The country is not yet flooded by tourists, so enjoy the traditional towns, charming architecture and mountain scenery in peace. But watch out! When Bulgarians shake their head ‘yes’, they actually mean ‘no’ and vice versa.

Now, the state-owned railway company BDZ has services to most major towns and cities, Due to the Balkan mountain range, traveling east-west by train is faster and easier than north-south.
