Glacier-Express

This is the famous train link between St-Moritz and Zermatt. A panoramic trip through the Alpine heartland of Switzerland, and a memorable way of traveling from the eastern to the western Swiss Alps.  The journey lasts 7½ hours, passing through 91 tunnels and crossing 291 bridges and the 2033 m high Oberalp Pass.

The Glacier Express runs on the following route:

  • Zermatt - Brig - Disentis - Chur - St. Moritz

Special Features

The new first and second class panorama cars are air-cushioned, air-conditioned, wheelchair-accessible and are considerably quieter than the previous generation of rolling stock. The new interiors are elegant and pleasant and the improved information system is available in six languages. The Glacier Express runs daily in Summer and Winter season and offers 1st and 2nd class coaches, panoramic coaches and a dining car.

Eurail Pass holders

Eurail Passes including Switzerland are valid between St-Moritz and Disentis, but are not valid between Disentis and Zermatt. However, holders of a Eurail Pass are entitled to a 25% reduction on the additional tickets on this section. Seat reservation, or dining car reservation, at extra cost, is compulsory.
