General Policies

  • Eurail.com accepts credit card payment through Visa, MasterCard, JCB, American Express, and Discover Card.
  • All bookings are accepted and all tickets, passes and vouchers are issued on the express condition that Eurail is not responsible nor liable for any loss (consequential or otherwise); damage (including, but not limited to, loss of, or damage to passengers' clothes, baggage, property, whatsoever); death, injury, delay, inconvenience or irregularity caused by, or arising from, or in connection with, any defect in any train, vehicle or other land or sea conveyance used, rented, or traveled in; or through the negligence, willful misconduct, strikes, or other acts, defaults, or omissions of any railroad carrier, car rental or other provider of goods and services.
  • Every booking accepted is subject to the conditions, tariffs and regulations imposed by the rail, shipping, bus, car rental, car insurance, or other companies, firms, or persons concerned.
  • Travel insurance is recommended.
  • Travelers are responsible for ensuring that they have all necessary travel documents and visas.

Age Limits

Anyone can buy a Eurail Pass. However, there are several price levels depending upon your age and the preferred class:

  • Customers aged 26 and older on the first day of validity of their Pass can buy an 'Adult' Pass in 1st or 2nd class
  • Customers aged 12 up to and including 25 years old can buy a 'Youth' Pass, which is only valid for 2nd class train travel
  • Customers aged 4 up to 12 years old (age limits can vary for One Country Passes. Please refer to Pass of your choice) get a discount of 50% on the fare of an 'Adult' Pass, 1st or 2nd class
  • Children aged 0 up to and including 3 travel for free

Country of Residence

You can buy a Eurail Pass if you are a resident of a non-European country. You are considered to be a resident of a country if you have been living in this country for longer than 6 months on the first day of validity of your Pass.

Residents from these countries are not entitled to buy a Eurail Pass:
Albania, Andorra, Austria, Belarus, Belgium, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Cyprus, Denmark, Estonia, Faeroer, Finland, FYR Macedonia, France, Germany, Gibraltar, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Moldova, Monaco, Montenegro, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, San Marino, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, Ukraine, United Kingdom, Vatican.

Train staff will check your residency in your travel document, so make sure that you bring the right documents.

Refund And Exchange

Lost or stolen rail passes are neither refundable nor replaceable. Handling and/or issuing charges are not refundable. Pass Protection is recommended. Unused rail passes are refundable within one (1) year from issue date (or six (6) months from issue date where so stated) provided they have not been validated, have been cancelled and so stamped at a retail station in Europe prior to the beginning of the validation period. All refunds are subject to a 15% cancellation charge. Unused vouchers of combination packages (those combining rail with other travel programs such as car rental or hotel) are not refundable if any of the services of the entire combination package have been wholly or partially used. Partially used or validated passes are 100% non-refundable.
