AGV stands for Automotrice à Grande Vitesse. It was developed in the last ten years by the French train-maker Alstom. The train was presented on February 5th for an audience including French president Nicolas Sarkozy.

The AGV can carry up to 900 passengers at a speed of 360 km/h (224 mph). This is no less than 40 km/h (25 mph) faster than the double-decker TGV trains that runs on the main French high-speed line between Paris and Lyon.
