Take a ride on one of Switzerland´s mountain railway attractions and enjoy spectacular views as you´re transported across steep mountainous terrain. The following private railway companies offer discounts on standard fares:

  • Discount: up to 50%
The Bürgenstock Railway is the oldest electric funicular railway in Switzerland and is located in the heart of the country.
Please note that the Bürgenstock Railway will be closed until summer 2014.

The Jungfrau is one of Switzerland's most popular mountains. There are four different railway companies that operate in the mountain's area. If you want to travel to Europe's highest railway station you'll have to use a number of private railway companies. To help you plan your trip, here we list the trains that you'll need to reach the top of the Jungfrau from Interlaken Ost.

 

BOB Berner Oberland - Bahnen

  • Routes: Interlaken Ost – Wilderswil – Zweilütschinen – Lauterbrunnen 
                    Interlaken Ost – Wilderswil – Zweilütschinen – Lütschental – Burglauenen – Schwendi – Grindelwald 
  • Discount: 25%

WAB Wengeralp Bahn

  • Routes: Lauterbrunnen – Wengwald –  Wengen – Allmend – Wengernalp – Kleine Scheidegg

  • Discount: 25%
  • Only 2nd class wagons available

JB Jungfrau Bahn

  • Route: Kleine Scheidegg – Eigergletscher Nordwand (Eiger Wall) – Eismeer (Sea of Ice) – Jungfraujoch
  • Discount: 25%
  • Only 2nd class wagons available.
  • Advance booking not possible. Just present your Eurail pass to get the discount.

The Jungfrau Bahn takes you to Europe's highest railway station (3554m). On the way up you'll pass 2 other stations where you can admire the mountain scenery from the panoramic train windows.

BLM Lauterbrunnen – Mürren

  • Route: Lauterbrunnen – Grütschalp – Winteregg – Mürren
  • Discount: 25%

With BLM you can travel from Lauterbrunnen to Grütschalp with an aerial cableway. Mürren can be reached by using a narrow-gauge railway from Grütschalp.

  • Only 2nd class coaches available.
  • Advanced booking not possible. Just present your Eurail pass to get the discount.

  • Discount: 25%

From Alpnachstad you can take the cogwheel railway up to the Pilatus mountain. From Kriens take an aerial panoramic gondola. Either way, you'll be in for a treat!
