Finland tourist information

Finland is one of the northernmost countries in the world, with nearly a third of its land (Lapland) north of the Arctic circle. The many serene lakes and the untamed wilderness, where you can hike and camp to your hearts content, contrasts nicely with the ultramodern cities, like the capital Helsinki. The building of the Kiasma Museum of Modern Art there, for instance, is as much a modern work of art as the ones within.

Finland by train

Finnish trains are efficient, fast and reliable. The rail network, run by the Finnish Railways, links all major cities to Helsinki. There are four types of trains that operate in the country: InterCity (IC), high-speed Pendolino (EP) trains, regular express trains and slower local trains. Seat reservations are required for all express trains marked ‘IC’ and ‘EP’.
