Ten things to experience in Germany

The Funkturm

Nicknamed "langer Lulatsch," which translates as “lanky lad”, this tower offers great panoramic views of Berlin. This steel structure from 1924, was build as a competitor to the French Eiffel Tower. Be sure to visit the restaurant and viewing platform.

Erholungspark Marzahn (Gardens of the World)

Located in Marzahn Recreational Park between Marzahn and Hellersdorf, you’ll find this popular attraction. This lush and lovely oasis boasts an array of flowers. The Chinese garden should be on your itinerary since it is the biggest of its kind outside of China.

Oktoberfest

Something is brewing in Munich every year between late September and early October! This 16-day festival is the most famous event in all of Germany and attracts an astounding 16-million people annually. Aside from endless beer, you can also sample traditional fare like Steckerlfisch, Hendl, Sauerkraut and Würstl.

Lüneburger Heide (Lüneburger Health)

Located in northern Germany, the lush landscape and its three colorful nature parks entrance visitors with a stunning, picture-postcard scene. Enjoy refreshing outdoor activities and then be sure to visit the nearby historic towns of Lüneburg and Celle and experience the shopping, quaint cafés and lively bars. Heide-Park amusement park near Soltau is also close by and features dozens of fun rides.

Cologne Cathedral

This 13th-century Gothic masterpiece is one of the major draws to the city of Cologne. As a Eurail Pass holder you can’t miss it – it’s right next to the main railway station.

Fürstenzug (Procession of Princes)

Make your way to the Augustusstrasse in Dresden to catch a glimpse of this massive mural (over 300 feet long) depicting a parade 35 noblemen who ruled from 1127 to 1918.

Augustusburg and Falkenlust palaces

Located in Brühl, North Rhine-Westphalia, these 18th-century palaces are connected via Schloßpark and boast magnificent architecture, including a stunning staircase, as well as an ornate flower garden, and much more.

Wine tasting

If you are a wine lover, be sure to use your Eurail Pass to visit the valleys of Rhine, Moselle and Neckar. There you can experience the medieval charm of Germany, while tasting some of the best wine in the country.

Roman-Irish baths in the Black Forest
