Berlin Night Express

Route

The Berlin Night Express is the only direct train connecting Germany and Sweden. The Berlin Night Express trains runs (not daily!) on the following route:

  • Berlin - Malmö (Sweden)

Please note that this train runs only from April 1st to November 1st! 

This comfortable Swedish train links overnight the German capital Berlin with Scandinavia. Berlin is a hub for rail connections with all parts of Central Europe. From Malmö you reach Copenhagen in 35 minutes by regional train. Long-distance trains run to Gothenburg and Stockholm with good connections to Oslo, Bergen, Narvik, Helsinki and St. Petersburg.

Frequency

The Berlin Night Express runs between April 1st and November 1st. It does not run at all during the winter time between November and Easter. Only between May 2nd and August 23rd there is a daily train.
It takes approx. 9 hours to travel from Berlin to Malmö.

Special Features

The sleeping cars have comfortable double compartments, partly with own shower/WC, and the couchette cars have spacious 6-bed compartments. Beverages and light meals can be ordered and served in the compartment. During the ferry-crossing Trelleborg-Sassnitz hot meals are also available. In the morning breakfast is served at a reasonable price.

The Berlin Night Express trains run to/from Berlin Hauptbahnhof-Lehrter Bahnhof. On its way the train crosses the Øresundsbron, the spectacular new railway bridge between Denmark and Sweden.

Eurail Pass holders

Eurail Pass holders are accepted on this night train and pay a reduced price for accomodation in a double sleeper or a couchette. Reservations are compulsory.

Reduced prices for Eurail Pass holders (1st or 2nd class):
Double sleeper: 30 Euro
Couchette (6 beds in each compartment): 15 Euro

Prices may be different when a reservation is made outside Europe.
