Lapplandståget (Sweden, Norway)

Lapplandståget means 'Lapland train'. This is one of the longest train routes in Europe, running from Malmö in Sweden to Narvik in Norway. More than 2000 kilometres of rail take you along cliffs and fjords, to the north of the Arctic Circle, where you can discover the Nordic light.

Route

The Lapland train starts in Sweden in either Malmö or in Göteborg and then continues to Stockholm. From there you head up north, past the Arctic Circle to the final destination Narvik. Of course you can also travel only part of the trip or travel the other way round.

The Lapland train departs on these days:

  • Malmö - Narvik: Fridays
  • Narvik - Malmö: Wednesdays
  • Göteborg - Narvik: Mondays
  • Narvik - Göteborg: Sundays

Services

The Lapland train offers travel in coach or sleeping car (couchette). You can also choose your own sleeping compartment. A sleeping bag, blanket, pillow with pillow case and towel are included in the sleeping car. If you have your own sleeping compartment, a key to the compartment is included.

In the restaurant car, we offer hot food, breakfast, sandwiches, cakes, candy, cold and hot beverages, beer, wine and spirits.

Eurail Pass conditions

Eurail cards are valid for travel on the Lappland train. Seats can be reserved for a 69 SEK fee (approx. 6,50 euro). Couchettes can be reserved for a 269 SEK fee (approx. 25 euro).
