The organiser of the Love Parade shouted:
“Make yourselves colourful and bright—banish the street's asphalt grey.
Be extravagant, stylish, kitschy, sexy and shrill—be a part of the most extravagant street in the world.
Have fun and be happy together—make the craziest traffic jam that the B1 has ever seen.
Celebrate love—show the whole world that collisions can be tender and that impacts can be peaceful. Be proud of wherever in the world you come from.”
And people responded to his wish… Over 1.6 million visitors danced their feet off. Another 4 million people watched the event online, perhaps afraid of the rain. Because rainy it was! Next year’s Parade is in Bochum, see you there?
