Reservation fees
Italy is one of the most visited countries in Europe. No wonder with great cities like Rome, Florence, Milan and Venice. To make Italy even more enticing for Eurail travelers, the reservation fees for premium (fast) trains have been lowered from 15-20 euro to 10 euro. Reservations for InterCity and Express trains are now also cheaper and not compulsory anymore!
The new reservation options for the different trains operated by Trenitalia:
- Premium trains (Eurostar AV, Eurostar Italia and Eurostar City): reservation required, fees 10 euro for 1st and 2nd class.
- Intercity and Express trains: reservation possible but not required, reservations recommended in high-season! fees 3 euro for 1st and 2nd class.
- Regional and Interregional trains: no reservations.

For international (night) trains from and to Italy, different fees may apply.
Reservations can be made at larger train stations in Europe. You can also try contacting the Trenitalia call center.
To plan your trip, you get a free compact timetable and map with your Eurail Pass. You can also use the more extensive online timetable of Trenitalia.
