Experiencing Europe with your family doesn't have to be expensive. Children aged 11 or younger get a 50% discount on adult prices. And if they are under 4 they travel for free. One of the best ways your child can learn about the world is by seeing it.
Children under 4 travel for free
Children under 4 on their first day of travel, go for free! They don't need a Eurail pass. On crowded trains, parents may be requested to put the child on their lap, as they are not guaranteed their own seat. If you would like a seat for your child you must reserve a seat in advance. On night trains, it is necessary to reserve and pay for a separate couchette or sleeper if you would like your child to have its own bed.
Children in the age 4-11 get 50% off
For children in the age 4-11 on their first day of travel, you can buy a child pass. Child passes are available for either 1st class or 2nd class travel. Simply select the child prices in the pass table. Prices shown include the child discount. It is possible to order a child pass without ordering an adult pass in the same order.
Ordering a child pass
To order a discounted child pass, it's necessary to add at least one adult pass to the shopping cart. If you only want to order a child pass and no adult passes (perhaps you want to order separately), you still must add an adult pass to the shopping cart. Once you go to the checkout you can reset the number of adult passes back to zero before you proceed to the payment.
