To take advantage of these offers just show your Eurail pass or contact the company, that offers the benefit, directly. Free travel offers are only valid during travel days, whereas other benefits apply during the entire validity of your pass

Travel between Italy and Greece with Superfast Ferries International

Eurail pass holders with a pass valid in Italy and Greece can travel on the routes:

  • Bari – Corfu (Greece) (crossings during summer only)

  • Ancona – Igoumenitsa (Greece)

  • Bari – Igoumenitsa (Greece)

  • Ancona – Patras (Greece)

  • Bari – Patras (Greece)

 

1st class: Free airline-type seats or dormitory*.
2nd class: Free economy seating.

 

Eurail pass holders with a pass valid in Italy or Greece get a 30% discount on these routes.

 

*Dormitories are not available on ferries that operate on the routes:

  • Patras (Greece) – Igoumenitsa / Corfu (Greece) – Bari (Italy)

  • Bari (Italy) – Igoumenitsa / Corfu (Greece) – Patras (Greece)

 

At the moment it's not possible to book ferries online between Patras, Igoumenitsa and Bari at the moment. For reservations please contact the Attica Group's help desk by email: helpdesk@attica-group.com

Bari is a 4 hour train ride from Rome. From Bari’s train station, take bus 20 to the ports. Ancona is a 3 hour train ride from Rome. From Ancona's train station, take bus 1 or 4 to get to the ferry terminal.

Free and discounted ferry travel on international routes with Minoan Lines

With an Eurail pass valid in Greece and Italy, you can travel for free on the routes:

  • Ancona – Igoumenitsa  (Greece) – Patras (Greece) 

 

2nd class pass holders travel for free on the deck and 1st class pass holders get free airline-type seats between Italy and Greece.

 

Eurail pass holders with a pass that is valid in either Greece or Italy receive a 30% discount on this route.

 

Please note that pass holders have to pay seasonal surcharges, port taxes and fuel surcharges.

Ancona is a 3 hour train ride from Rome. From Ancona's train station, take bus1 or 4 to get to the ferry terminal. Venice's passenger terminal is located near the city center. There’s a shuttle bus service that can take you from Piazzale Roma to the terminal. Please note that you have to contact your ferry company for timetables and more information.

Eurail Italy passholders receive a 20% discount on official fares (port taxes and fixed dues excluded) on the routes listed below. Besides that you'll get a 10% discount on your accomodation (pullman seats, berths or cabins). During low season (September 15 to Decemeber 21,  2014) a 40% discount applies to official fares.

Civitavecchia’s port can be reached by train from Rome in about 1 hour. Grimaldi Lines operates a shuttle bus service from Napels to Civitavecchia. Purchase a ticket on board of your ferry or the bus (€24). Livorno can be reached by train from Rome in about 2.5 hours. From Livorno's main train station, take bus 1 to Piazza Grande, where you can find the passenger terminals. Porto Torres can be reached by train from Calgliari (south of Sardinia) in about 4 hours. Shuttle buses will take you to the commercial port. From Palermo’s central station, take bus 139 to Via Francesco Crispi. Salerno is a 2 to 3 hour train ride from Rome. From Salerno’s main train station, you can take a bus to the docks.

Special fares on Hellenic Mediterranean Lines

Eurail pass holders get discounts up to 50% on the ferry route Brindisi – Patras (Greece) (with extra stops at Corfu & Cefalonia in the summer).

  • 30% discount on all categories (except the luxury cabin) in high season (June 15 - September 15).

  • 50% discount on all categories (except the luxury cabin) outside the high season.

Brindisi is a 5 hour train ride from Rome. Take the bus (navetta centro storico) to get to the docks. This bus line operates every 20 minutes.

Scenic routes with express buses

Eurail pass holders only pay a reservation fee on ÖBB intercity buses that operate on the following route:

  • Venice (Venezia Mestre & Tronchetto) – Villach – Klagenfurt (Austria)

 

For this route passes must be valid in Italy and Austria.

Reservations for the route Klagenfurt – Venice can be made on www.fsitaliane.it or through the ÖBB call center (phone number: +43 5 1717 (open 24/7) ).

 

Please keep in mind that you'll have to pick up your reservations made on the fsitaliane website at an Italian train station or have them shipped to an Italian address.
