If your Eurail pass is valid in Spain, you can get cheap passage on various ferry crossings and discounts on private railways, hotels and other offers.

You can obtain benefits locally by showing your Eurail pass, or you can contact the specific benefit company in advance. The discount benefits only apply during the validity of your pass. Free passage on trains, buses or ferries is only valid on travel days.

Set sail for Italy, Sardinia or Morocco with Grimaldi Lines

Eurail pass holders get a 20% discount on official fares (port taxes, fixed dues and special fares excluded) on the routes:

  • Barcelona – Civitavecchia (Italy)
  • Barcelona – Livorno (Italy)
  • Barcelona – Porto Torres (Sardinia)
  • Barcelona – Tangier (Morocco)

Please note that the ferries on most routes do not sail daily. Check the Grimaldi Lines website for detailed information about departures.

You must wait until you receive your Eurail pass to make reservations, as you’ll need to scan your pass and send it to Grimaldi Lines as proof of eligibility.
Reservations can be made on the Grimaldi Lines website. To get your discount you should fill out this form. The discount will be refunded on your credit card.

Denia can be reached by bus from Alicante in about 2.5 hrs. Denia’s bus station is a 10-minute walk from the port.

Valencia is a 3 hour train ride from Barcelona. From there, take bus 3 in the direction of Castell de Pop - Jesús Natzaré. Get off at the 17th stop (Manuel Soto 'Enginyer' - Comandància Marina). From there it’s a 5-minute walk to the passenger terminal.

Booking information
The best place to enquire about bus services is at a local tourist office or railway station. In large towns and cities, buses run to and from bus stations (gare d’autobus/routière) usually located next to railway stations. In rural areas, bus services are often operated by the SNCF and run between local towns and the railway station. An SNCF bus, on which rail tickets and passes are valid, is shown as an autocar in rail timetables.


Cross the Spanish city Valencia with Renfe buses

Eurail pass holders can travel for free on Renfe buses that cover the route:

  • Valencia S. Joaquin sorolla – Valencia Nord station

Please note that you have to show a reservation for the AVE high-speed train to benefit from this offer.

The bus runs 365 days per year from 06:00 to 23:00. The trip takes 3-5 minutes and buses run approximately every 10 minutes. There is assistance for people with special mobility needs at both stations.
