If your Eurail pass is valid in Sweden, you can get great deals, cheap ferry crossings to Germany, Finland and Denmark, or free bus travel.
You can obtain benefits locally by showing your Eurail pass, or you can contact the specific benefit company in advance. The discount benefits only apply during the validity of your pass. Free passage on trains, buses or ferries is only valid on travel days.
Set sail for Denmark with Scandlines ferries
Eurail pass holders with a pass that is valid in Denmark and Sweden can travel for free on the route:
- Helsingborg – Helsingør (Denmark)
It is not necessary to make a reservation. Scandlines ferries depart every 30-40 minutes. Simply go to the Scandlines dock and present your Eurail pass to get on board.
Helsingborg central station is located next to the ferry docks. The passenger terminals can be reached from the central station by foot.
Travel to Finland, Estonia or Latvia with Tallink Silja Lines ferries
Eurail pass holders pay special fares on Tallink Silja Lines ferries that operate on the routes:
- Stockholm – Riga (Latvia)
- Stockholm – Mariehamn – Turku (Finland)
- Stockholm – Mariehamn – Helsinki (Finland)
- Stockholm – Tallinn (Estonia)
In high season you receive a 20% discount. In low seaon a 40% discount.
Please keep in mind that the above routes are night crossings and that you'll have to book a cabin.

Ferries with destination Riga depart from Stockholm Frihamnen. Buses can take you from Stockholm Central station to the terminal. The buses depart from the City Terminal. Visit the Tallink Silja lines website for other options.
Let Viking Line ferries take you to Finland
Get a 50% discount on deck prices on the routes:
- Stockholm – Helsinki (Finland)
- Stockholm –Turku (Finland)
Reservations can be made on the Viking Line website (Product code 'Discount with Eurail pass'). Show your Eurail pass at the docks. Please note that the discount doesn't apply to cabin prices.
Viking Line operates a shuttle bus service between the Viking Terminal and Slussen-Cityterminal.
Travel to Germany with Finnlines ferries
Eurail pass holders get a 20% discount on official fares on the ferry route:

From the Central station, take bus 31 to Malmö Frihamnen (2 stops from the station). From there it’s a 5-minute walk to the terminal.
Travel from Sweden to Denmark with Stena Line ferries
Eurail pass holders receive a 20% discount on the routes:
- Göteborg – Frederikshavn (Denmark)
- Varberg – Grenå (Denmark)

From Göteborg Central station, take tram 11 to Masthuggstorget (6 stops from the station). From there it’s a short walk to the Stena Line passenger terminal.
Varberg’s ferry port is a 10-minute walk from the train station.
Eurail pass holders pay special fares on ferry crossings from mainland Sweden to the island of Gotland on the routes:
- Nynäshamn – Visby (Gotland Island)
- Oskarshamn – Visby (Gotland Island)
Discounts are only available in person, and depend upon the specific times and days you travel. Present your Eurail pass at the dock when you make your reservations.

Nynäshamn can be reached by train from Stockholm in 1 hour. The ferry terminal is in walking distance from the train station.

Take the bus to cross the border
Eurail pass holders can travel for free on the following routes that aren't covered by rail:
- Haparanda – Tornio (Finland) – Kemi (Finland) (Veljekset Salmela)

Travel to Denmark and Norway
A pass valid in Sweden covers:
- direct SJ trains to and from Copenhagen and Copenhagen Airport.
- direct border crossing trains from Göteborg and Stockholm to Oslo.
Travel with the Berlin Night Express
Eurail pass holders get a discounted fare on this overnight train that operates on the route:
- Malmö – Berlin (Germany) (including the ferry crossing Trelleborg – Sassnitz)
The reservation of a couchette is compulsory. You can travel overnight for just €29 in a couchette.
Your pass only has to be valid in Sweden.
Please note: this train only runs between June 23 and August 17.
Holders of a 1st class Eurail pass have free access to the SJ lounges in Stockholm and Göteborg.
