Using extra pass benefits

Your Eurail pass entitles you to extra pass benefits, like free and discounted ferry crossings and reductions on hotels, attractions and more.

View the benefits per country by visiting the individual benefits pages. An overview of benefits is also printed in the free Traveler’s Guide that you get with your order.

How to use pass benefits

You can take advantage of extra pass benefits by contacting the individual company in advance or by showing your pass at the time of booking. Some offers may require an advance reservation, so make sure you check. All the information you need about each benefit is detailed on the benefit pages for each country.

Pass benefits and travel days

With a flexi pass:

  • If you use a free benefit you must fill in a travel day in the travel calendar, even if you do not use a train on that day.
  • Discounted benefits can be used anytime within the overall validity of your pass.

With a continuous pass:

  • You can use free benefits and discounted benefits on every day that your pass is valid.

Using ferry benefits

The following conditions apply when traveling with free or discounted ferries, when you are a flexi pass holder.

  • For free ferry travel on international shipping routes, your pass must be valid in the country of departure and the country of arrival.
  • For discounted ferry travel on international shipping routes, your pass must be valid for the country of departure or for the country of arrival.
  • For domestic ferry routes, your pass must be valid in the country that you travel within.
  • When you take an overnight ferry between Greece and Italy, you can choose which day you enter on your pass – either the departure or arrival day.
