Which Eurail passes are valid in France?
In 2013, it is no longer possible to order a Eurail Select Pass that includes France. To travel in France with Eurail you can order the flexible and value-for-money Global Pass that is valid in 24 countries. Alternatively, there are various Regional Passes that combine France with 1 other country. If you bought your Eurail Select Pass in 2012 you can still travel in France. Read more.

To travel to Ireland with a Eurail Select Pass, you need to book a flight or take a discounted ferry from France.

If you choose a Eurail Select Pass valid in both Greece and Italy, the ferry crossing between these countries is included in your pass, operated by Superfast Ferries, Blue Star Ferries and Minoan Lines (you just pay seasonal surcharges, port taxes and fuel surcharges).

Trains between Germany and Sweden often go through Denmark. If your Select Pass is not valid there, you should buy a separate ticket for the section of your journey in Denmark. If you want to avoid these additional costs, there is a discounted fare available to pass holders on the Berlin Night Express or a discounted ferry from Finnlines between Travemünde (Germany) and Malmö (Sweden).

  • Your chosen countries must border each other by rail or ferry (see table below of Eurail bordering countries).
  • Have the freedom to choose which country you start your trip from.
  • Travel back and forth between your chosen countries as much as you like.
  • To travel through a country not valid with your Select Pass (even if your train only passes through that country and does not stop), you’ll need to buy a separate ticket for that part of the journey.

** When both Greece and Italy are chosen, the ferry crossings between Greece and Italy operated by Superfast Ferries, Blue Star Ferries and Minoan Lines are included.
