No, you can start your trip in any of the three selected countries. You may even travel back and forth between countries.
Can I travel through countries where my pass isn't valid?
No, your pass only allows you unlimited train travel through the three countries you select. If you travel through another country (even if you do not stop) you will be required to buy a separate ticket for that part of the journey. More details.
