Thello night and day train

With the Thello night train you can fall asleep in Paris and wake up well rested to see gondolas floating through the canals of Venice. Within 10 hours, the Thello will take you from Paris to Milan, and only 3,5 hours later you can find yourself eating Italian gelato on the famous San Marco square in Venice.

Thello also operates a day train, connecting Marseille and Nice with Genoa and Milan.

Thello night and day train routes


The comfortable Thello night train runs daily from Paris to northern Italy. Its final destination is the world famous city of Venice. Along the way, the Thello stops in many other remarkable cities, such as Milan, Verona and Padua. Drift away in one of the sleeper cars and awake the next morning to see the sun rise over the Italian countryside. Or use the Thello day train to travel between Milan and the French Riviera.

Reservation: mandatory

When a reservation is mandatory you must reserve your seat or sleeping accommodation in advance. It's not possible to board the train without this reservation.

Reservations for the Thello night train are mandatory. Reservations can be made up to 120 days in advance.

The Thello night train is not included in your Eurail Pass. However, Eurail Pass holders get a 25% discount on the normal ticket price of this train if they book in advance. Your pass only needs to be valid in either France or Italy.

Reservation fees

The Thello fees vary greatly upon the length of your journey, the season and availability. A ticket from Paris to Venice can cost you as little as 35 euros on one day, and 80 euros on the next day. These prices do not yet include your 25% pass holder discount.

Please keep in mind that on some days, a regular ticket could actually be cheaper than a discounted ticket. For this reason, make sure you always compare prices on the Thello website before you make a reservation.
