If you ordered your pass on this website, you can take advantage of our Reservation Service – the easiest and most convenient way to make all your train reservations. We know reservations can be a hassle, so let us help you with them!

  • Make reservations anywhere from 3 months to 8 business days before your train's departure.

  • Delivered to you anywhere in the world by registered mail– for free!

  • Reservations for domestic Italian day trains and day trains between Italy and Switzerland are available as e-tickets. These can be requested up to 3 business days before your train's departure.

  • You can make as many train reservations with us as you want!

The Reservation Service is currently offered in English and in Spanish.

Please note: If you make a reservation with us, you can only travel with the official reservation ticket sent to your shipping address - just make sure someone's available to sign for your package when it arrives. E-ticket reservations can either be printed or shown on a mobile device. It's not possible to travel with your invoice or to pick up your reservations at the train station. Make train reservations well in advance to allow enough time for shipping.

Reservation Service costs

The cost of a train reservation consists of two different fees:

  1. The booking fee. This is 8 euros per train, no matter how many seats you book on that train. For Italian e-ticket reservations, it's only 6 euros per train.

  2. The train reservation fee. Prices vary considerably, depending on the train. See the full list of train reservation fees.

Example: These are the costs for a 1st class reservation for 2 travelers on the Thalys high-speed train from Paris to Amsterdam: 8 euros booking fee + 2 x 35 euros train reservation fee = 78 euros.

Reservation Service rules

  • The Reservation Service is only for customers who ordered their pass on this website.

  • Book your trains 2 months in advance to make sure there are still seats available.

  • We can only accept booking requests for trains departing at least 8 business days in the future. 

  • E-ticket reservations for domestic Italian day trains, domestic Spanish day trains and day trains between Italy and Switzerland can be booked up to 3 business days in the future.

  • You need your order number to register with our Reservation Service.

  • Register your travel party under one account to save money and be seated together.

  • Your reservation request will be processed within 2 business days.

Please note: the European railways update their train schedules on June 13. Because of this, trains departing after this date may be unavailable for reservations. This is mostly the case with night trains. If you can't book your train at this moment, please try again after June 13 or make your reservations at a railway station.

Frequently asked questions

  • How can we make sure the whole group is seated together? 

    During registration for the Reservation Service, you can add all your travel companions to your account under 'My profile'. This way, your entire group can have a single account, even if you ordered your rail passes separately and have different order numbers.

    For every train you request you can indicate if you want the reservation for the whole group or just a selection. We will then make sure that everyone is seated together.

    Prices shown in the portal are for all travelers together.

  • What happens if I don’t pay for my reservations before the expiry date? 

    Once you've requested your reservations in the Reservation Service portal, you will see an expiry date at the bottom of the screen. You must be sure to make your payment for the reservations before this expiry date. After this time we can no longer guarantee that the reservations are available and they will be automatically cancelled.

    If you still want you reservations after they've expired, you need to make a new reservation request.

  • Which trains can't be reserved with the Eurail reservation service? 

    The Eurail reservation service is able to make reservations for 95% of European trains. Below you will find the trains that can't be reserved through our service.

    We are unable to make reservations for 1st class cars in Spain, domestic trains in Portugal, and international trains in the following countries:

  • My train is fully booked. How can I find alternatives? 

    You can find alternatives for your train in the Eurail timetable. Be sure to read the explanation below the timetable carefully. It will help you find a different train or perhaps a different route.

    We advise you to start booking your trains at least 2 weeks before your trip.

  • Can I get a refund for lost or stolen tickets? 

    No, there is no refund for lost or stolen reservation tickets. Our Pass Loss & Theft Cover only applies to Eurail passes. If you lose your reservation tickets, you will have to make new reservations, for instance at the train station.
