Reservation Fees

For the domestic trains listed below, advance reservation is compulsory or recommended.

Advance booking is recommended in high-season and during peak hours. Some trains (Thalys, TGV) have a limited number of seats for Eurail travelers.

Please note this list of reservation fees is only an indication and prices may differ. This list is not exhaustive.These prices exclude a possible administration fee, which may be charged at the railway station.

Domestic train reservation fees per country

Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Serbia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden,  Switzerland.

Austria 

• No compulsory reservations for domestic trains.

Belgium

Trains to/from Brussels Airport

Supplement only. Can be bought in the station or train.

• Fees - 1^st and 2^nd class: €2.20

Bulgaria

Express (Ekspresen) trains

Reservation: compulsory.

Reservation: compulsory.

Komfort class available for 1^st class pass holders with no costs if reservation is made locally.

• 2^nd class pass holders pay €10.50 for an upgrade to Komfort class.
• Fees - 2^nd class: €5.85 
• Fees - 1^st class (Komfort):  free

• Reduced price for Eurail pass holders (30% discount)

Reservations for night trains are always compulsory. The reservation fee varies depending on the type of sleeping accommodation you choose. Below you can find reservation fees for some  popular night trains.

Reservations can be made in advance (recommended in the high-season and at peak times) through a travel agent or at a train station. Off-season, during non-peak times, you can also ask train staff if there is vacant accommodation.
