Find out which pass you can use

Eurail passes can only be used by non-European residents, who have lived in a non-European country for at least the last 6 months (counted on the first day of travel with the pass). Complete list of countries eligible for a Eurail pass.

European residents

European residents cannot travel with a Eurail pass and can instead use an InterRail pass, available from www.interrailnet.com.

Proof of residency

Train staff have the right to check your residency, so ensure you always have 1 of the following documents available that proves your country of residence:
  • Work or student visa
  • Residence card
  • Rental agreement
  • Bank statement
  • Utility bill
  • Government certificate

Driving licenses are not accepted.

Eurail and InterRail travelers

Eurail and InterRail pass holders can travel together, but keep in mind that the InterRail Global Pass is valid in more countries than the Eurail Global Pass.
