There are several train connections between Germany and Sweden, which all cross Denmark. In most cases, you have to change trains in Copenhagen (København ).

You can search for schedules on the Timetables page.

If you use a Eurail Select Pass that includes Germany and Sweden but not Denmark, you have to buy an additional ticket at the departure station for the portion of the trip that you’re in  Denmark between the German and Swedish borders.

Other good options for Eurailers to travel between Germany and Sweden:

  • The Berlin Night Express, a direct overnight train between Berlin, Germany  and Malmö, Sweden  with a special fare for Eurail pass holders. To use this train, your pass should at least be valid in Sweden. Validity in Denmark is not necessary. Please note that this train does not run daily.
  • A ferry between Germany and Sweden. Eurail pass holders get a 20% discount on ferries from Finnlines between Travemünde (near Hamburg), Germany  and Malmö, Sweden.
