With 3,100km of track the Spanish high-speed AVE trains operate on the longest high-speed network in Europe. The central hub of the AVE system in Madrid is the train station Puerta de Atocha. In Barcelona AVE trains depart from the train station Barcelona Saints.

Reservations

 

Reservations can be made up to 62 days in advance. The cost of reservations varies depending on the train and class. Reservations fees range from €10-€38 per person. Prices are subject to change. It is possible for 2nd class pass holders to travel in 1st class if they pay the reservation and the difference of the fare between 1st and 2nd class. Reservations can be made at a ticket desk or self-service machine at local train stations or by calling the Renfe Call Center.

Reservation : Mandatory

  • 2nd class (turista) €10

  • 1st class (preferente) €23.50 includes welcome drink and meal.

  • Business class (club) €38 includes welcome drink and à la carte meal.
