The Renfe Lusitania night train is the quickest and most direct way to travel from Madrid to Lisbon. Lusitania night train routes

 

Lusitania night trains run daily between Spain’s capital city, Madrid to Portugal’s capital city, Lisbon. The train departs every day from Madrid (Chamartín station) at 9: 50 p.m. and arrives in Lisbon (Oriente) less than 11 hours later at 7:20 a.m. In the other direction the train departs every day from Lisbon (Oriente) at 9:27 p.m. and arrives in Madrid (Chamartín station) the next morning at 8:10 a.m.

Reservations

 

There are four accommodation options to choose form on this train: 

  • Gran class is the most luxurious accommodation option and is available as either single or double compartments. Each compartment has a private washbasin, toilet and shower. When you arrive the compartments have seats where you can relax with a welcome drink and later in the evening the seating is converted into beds by the train attendant. The Gran Class compartment which has individual air conditioning control and ample storage space for suitcases and also includes magazines, coat hangers, free toiletries and a key card so you can explore the train or visit the restaurant car and lock your room securely. Breakfast and dinner in the restaurant are also included.

  • Preferente or 1st class compartment is also available in a single or double compartment. These compartments are similar to the Gran Class but they do not have a private toilet and shower. There is a washbasin in each compartment along with free toiletries. And breakfast is included.

  • Turista or 2nd class accommodation comprises of a 4 bed couchette each compartment has a wash basin and at the end of each carriage there is a toilet and washroom. These couchettes are segregated into female and male compartments although groups of 4 people can travel together in one couchette. 

  • Reclining seats offer the most economical way to travel on the Lusitania. There are up to 36 seats in each air conditioned compartment. Passengers can control how far the seats recline up to a 136 degree angle (nearly horizontal) and will receive a bottle of water and a blanket.

  • 2nd class (turista): 29 euros

  • 1st class (preferente) double compartment: 49 euros per person

  • 1st class (preferente) single compartment: 92 euros

  • Gran class double compartment: 82 euros per person

  • Gran class single compartment: 140,50 euros
