City Night Line night trains

With the City Night Line (CNL) night trains, many fascinating cities in Europe are just a comfortable night train journey away. You have the convenience of traveling overnight and arriving refreshed and well rested with the whole day ahead of you!

With the City Night Line you simply choose the level of comfort you require, be it a private sleeper cabin, a couchette or a seated coach.

Eurail pass conditions

You can use your Eurail pass on all City Night Line trains. Pass holders only pay a reservation fee for the sleeping accommodation. Reservations are compulsory. You can make reservations at main train stations or online. You can also contact the City Night Line Customer Care at +49 (0) 1805 99 66 33  (6:00-24:00 hrs CET). City Night Line offers two types of fares:

  • Pass 1: for holders of passes covering the whole journey, e.g. Global Pass.
  • Pass 2: for holders of passes partially covering the journey, e.g. One Country Pass.

Prices for Eurail pass holders 

Pass 1 fares:

  • Seat in closed compartment: €11.50
  • Seat in open-plan car: €17.50

2nd class sleeping car (with washing facilities)

  • 6-berth cabin (couchette): €27.50 p.p.
  • 4-berth cabin (couchette): €37.50 p.p.
  • 3/4-berth economy cabin (sleeper): €55 p.p.
  • Economy double (sleeper): €75 p.p.
  • Economy single (sleeper): €115

1st class sleeping coach (with shower/WC)
Only for 1st-class Eurail pass holders

  • 3-berth deluxe cabin (sleeper): €55 p.p.
  • Deluxe double cabin (sleeper): €75 p.p.
  • Deluxe single cabin (sleeper): €115

Pass 2 fares:

  • Seat in closed compartment: €64
  • Seat in open-plan car: €67

2nd class sleeping car (with washing facilities)

  • 6-berth cabin (couchette): €72 p.p.
  • 4-berth cabin (couchette): €77 p.p.
  • 3/4-berth economy cabin (sleeper): €87 p.p.
  • Economy double (sleeper): €97 p.p.
  • Economy single (sleeper): €117

1st class sleeping coach (with shower/WC)
Only for 1st-class Eurail pass holders

  • 3-berth deluxe cabin (sleeper): €118 p.p.
  • Deluxe double cabin (sleeper): €128 p.p.
  • Deluxe single cabin (sleeper): €148

Services

Sleeper car fares also include breakfast, which will be served in your compartment. On some trains there also is an on-board restaurant to obtain meals, snacks and drinks. All City Night Line trains are non-smoking. You can ask for a wake-up call in the morning. All sleeping and couchette cars on night trains have special security facilities so that customers can lock the compartment from the inside.
