From December to May, during the winter sport season, private railway company Veolia runs a special night train from Malmö (Sweden) to Åre and Storlien.
The timetable is adapted to the days when visitors arrive at or leave the ski resorts in Åre and Storlien:
- Malmö to Åre and Storlien: Wednesday & Saturday
- Åre and Storlien to Malmö: Thursday & Sunday
Conditions for Eurail pass holders
Eurail passes are valid for travel with the Veolia night train and reservations are compulsory for sleeping accommodation.
Services
The Veolia night train offers travel in a seat or couchette. You can also choose your own sleeping compartment. A sleeping bag, blanket, pillow with pillow case and towel are included in the sleeping car. If you have your own sleeping compartment, a key to the compartment is included.
There is also an onboard restaurant serving hot and cold food and drinks.

Lapplandståget
Veolia used to run the Lapplandståget, a night train from Malmö and Göteborg via Stockholm to Narvik in Norway. This service has stopped. The Swedish national railway company SJ still runs a night train on the route to Lapland.
