Altaria High-Speed Train
The Altaria is a high-speed long-distance train that connects the Spanish capital Madrid to the southern cities of Algeciras, Granada, Cartagena and Murcia. Altaria trains are uniquely designed with gauge changing technology enabling them to travel on both standard and high-speed rails, reaching speeds of up to 200 km/hr.
Altaria routes
1st class travelers can await their departure in the exclusive lounge “Sala Club” at Madrid Puerta de Atocha. Both 1st (preferente) and 2nd (turista) class include spacious reclining seats with excellent onboard facilities such as audio/video service with headphones, and an onboard café.
Altaria trains run from Madrid to the south of Spain on the following routes:
- Madrid - Algeciras
- Madrid - Granada
- Madrid - Cartagena (via Murcia del Carmen)
Reservations
Reservations on the Altaria high-speed trains are mandatory. We recommend you make your reservations as far in advance as possible.
How to make reservations for the Altaria
You can reserve your seat on the Altaria in the following ways:
- At the train station. Keep in mind that trains can become full during busy times.
Reservation fees
- 1st class (Preferente) seat: 23.50 euros
2nd class (Turista) seat: 6.50 euros
Meal and drink are included in 1st class. If not available, reservation costs are 10 euros.
Facilities and services
Change of currency
You cannot change the currency once you have a Pass in your cart. Remove the Pass, and then change the currency on the website header.
