How much do seat reservations cost?
The costs of seat reservations depend on the type of train, the type of seat, and the railway company charging the fee. For an overview of these costs, check out our useful list of reservation fees. Some night trains in Europe, such as the OBB Nightjet, have dynamic seat reservation prices and are subject to availability. Prices depend on the route, the time of the year, and the current demand.
You can also see the cost of seat reservations for a train when you search on our web timetable or in the planner on our Rail Planner app. Simply search for your desired route, time, and date, and select the train you would like to take. Then click on "see prices" to see the price of booking a seat on your chosen train in 1st or 2nd class.
If you book your reservations through us, you need to pay an additional booking fee of €2 per traveler per train.
Some reservations are only available in paper form and will be sent to you by mail (€9 shipping cost per order).
