The Bergen Railway

The Bergen Railway runs between Bergen and Oslo and shows you some of Norway’s most spectacular scenery. Travel from deep fjords to snow-covered mountaintops and from frozen lakes to grassy plains. The Bergen Railway is fully included in your Eurail pass.

Reservations

 

Reservations on the Bergen Railway are mandatory. If you are traveling with a group and you all want to sit together, making an advance reservation is a good idea.

How to make reservations on the Bergen Railway

You can reserve your seat on the Bergen Railway in the following ways:

  •  At a train station: Ticket desks from Entur AS
  • By phone: Contact the Entur customer center on weekdays between 7:00 and 23:00, Saturdays between 8:00 and 21:00 and Sundays between 9:00 and 23:00. Opening times may vary during holidays.

  • Seat (2nd class): 7 euros

  • Seat (1st class): 12 euros


Making a reservation through the ) is free for 1st class Pass holders.

Conditions for Eurail Pass holders

Eurail Passes valid for Norway can be used to travel on the Bergen Railway. There are no additional costs.

 

Special features

This train has a special family coach, designed for parents traveling with small children. The coach offers a large amount of space, making it easy to travel with pushchairs, and even a playground with climbing frames.

 

You can also make this trip at night, in which case you’ll have to reserve a bed in one of the added sleeping compartments. However, we recommend you take this trip in full daylight, so you won’t miss out on any of the amazing scenery.
