Rail travel that gives back

Save up to 25% on Eurail Passes and support meaningful impact across Europe

Utrecht, The Netherlands, November 25, 2025

Eurail is launching its Journeys That Make a Difference campaign for a third consecutive year, while inspiring travelers to choose experiences that connect, enrich, and give back. Running from 25 November to 17 December 2025, travellers can save 25% on Eurail Passes*, an initiative that combines the opportunity to experience transformative travel while paying it forward.

As part of this campaign, Eurail will donate €100,000 to The Intrepid Foundation, the not-for-profit entity of Intrepid Travel, continuing its commitment to championing responsible travel that creates positive impact and makes a difference to those who need it most. The donation supports grassroots organisations across Europe that create lasting, meaningful positive change in their communities.

“Eurail believes the benefits of travel can go both ways, enriching both the traveller and the destinations they encounter,” said Kavita Kooijman, Brand Strategist at Eurail. “Making meaningful connections and creating positive impact across Europe, whether that be through helping to manage overtourism or ensuring that disadvantaged communities within visitor destinations also benefit from tourism, is core to what Eurail stands for”, she continued.

Shared impact across Europe

Since the start of their partnership in 2023, Eurail has donated more than €370,000 via The Intrepid Foundation to support nine not-for-profit organisations through two Journeys That Make a Difference campaigns and an Impact Grant Award.

These contributions have helped:

  • Divert 450 tonnes of clothing, shoes, textiles, books and toys from landfill in Croatia
  • Enable 7,200 mothers in Greece to receive pre-natal care and essential support
  • Deliver more than 87,000 essential products to mothers and babies in Greece
  • Bring 15 additional schools into Croatia’s waste education programme

In 2025, Eurail co-created an Impact Grant Award with The Intrepid Foundation, committing €20,000 in funding, which was generously matched by The Intrepid Foundation. The two European grassroots partner recipients will use the grants to strengthen community impact:

  • AMURTEL (Greece) – providing support for refugee and migrant women and children.
  • Cooperativa Coraggio (Italy) – advancing sustainable agriculture, environmental education, and inclusive employment near Rome.

“The Intrepid Foundation believes that travel can be a powerful force for good, and that we all have a part to play in protecting destinations for generations to come” said Biheng Zhang, General Manager at The Intrepid Foundation. “Eurail’s longstanding partnership is a testament to this shared vision, driving meaningful and lasting impact in communities across Europe.”

Travelling with purpose

Eurail believes that mindful travel, especially by train, can help protect Europe’s cultural and environmental heritage while giving back to the communities that make each journey unique. Along with The Intrepid Foundation, Eurail encourages travelers to slow down, choose lesser-known destinations, and travel in ways that leave a positive mark. Together, our journeys can make a difference – for travelers, for communities, and for the planet.
