If you're planning a trip around Northern Europe, Sweden must be on the list. With dog-sledding, scuba-diving and island-hopping, this Scandinavian country has something for everyone. And, of course, with the ABBA Museum in Stockholm, why wouldn't you visit?

Go dog-sledding

Imagine racing along in a sled pulled by Alaskan huskies, with white-tipped mountains across the horizon. Head up north to Swedish Lapland to try this once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Go alpaca-trekking in the south

Alpacas, in Sweden? Yes, really. Visit the Alpacka & Älg Ekofarm in south Sweden for the chance to trek with these adorable creatures. With perfect forest surroundings and a brand new friend, what more could you ask for?

See the Skansen Open Air Museum, Stockholm

If you've ever wondered what Sweden was like in the past, you need to visit Skansen. The oldest open air museum in the world, this amazing complex brings history to life by showcasing different parts of Sweden's culture and history. It's a great way to explore the past, from traditional farms to an aquarium for the kids.

Dance away the day in the ABBA Museum, Stockholm

You can't go to Sweden and not visit the ABBA museum. With its tagline 'Walk in. Dance out', be prepared for a museum experience like no other. From trying on ABBA costumes to performing the songs yourself, this museum is at the top of our list to visit.

Spot subway art, Stockholm

Stockholm's metro system is fondly known as the world's longest art exhibit. With each of the 100 stations decorated with its own distinctive art, you can spend all day underground.

Scream at Liseberg Amusement Park, Gothenburg

If you loved Tivoli Gardens in Copenhagen, there's a treat waiting for you in Gothenburg! Opened in 1923, this amusement park has thrills for all the family, including Valkyria, Europe's longest dive coaster. Remember to smile for the camera on the way down!

Soak up the evening atmosphere, Stockholm

After getting into the dancing mood at the ABBA museum, you need to check out Stockholm's nightlife. Head to the Stureplan area for a great range of bars, clubs and other evening activities.

Visit the market, Kivik

Kivik might be an unassuming town, but it's home to Sweden's largest market in July, complete with funfair rides alongside market stalls. Make sure you check out the popular apples and cider on sale!

Do a boat tour of Stockholm

Stockholm is a city built on 14 islands, some of the 30,000 of the Stockholm Archipelago. Taking a boat tour around the city is the best way to see all the sights and appreciate the unique setup of this northern settlement.

Visit the Royal Palace, Stockholm

The Royal Palace of Stockholm is the official residence of the Swedish monarch but also contains three museums within its 600 rooms. Learn about the history of the palace and the monarchy in this beautiful building, and look out for the King!
