Most trains run from Tallinn towards several citites throughout the country, such as Tartu, Valga, Narva and Paldiski

The three Baltic countries and railway operators work together on the corridor Tallinn - Riga - Vilnius. Some connections require a transfer at the border station Valga.

 

Tallinn - Tartu - Riga

  • Direct trains launched in January 2026
  • Dedicated carriage for international passengers
  • Reservation not possible at the moment

 

Tallinn - Valga & Valga - Riga

  • Transfer in Valga on trains towards Riga
  • Reservation only possible for 1st class until Valga on Elron trains
  • Reservation not possible on VIVI (Latvian Railways) trains till Riga

 

Tallinn - Valga & Valga - Vilnius

  • Transfer in Valga on trains towards Vilnius 
  • Reservation only possible for 1st class until Valga on Elron trains
  • Reservation mandatory on LTG Link (Lithuanian Railways) trains to Lithuania

International ferries

Tallinn has great connections to Finland and Sweden. These ferries are not included in the Pass, but Interrail Pass holders can get a discount on their passage. Check the benefits portal for more information on these ferries and the discount:

 

Ferry to Finland: Tallinn – Helsinki

The ferry from Tallinn (Estonia) to Helsinki (Finland) takes between 2 and 3 hours. This route is offered by Tallink Silja, Viking Lines and Eckerö line.

 

Ferry to Sweden: Tallinn – Stockholm

The ferry from Tallinn (Estonia) to Stockholm (Sweden) is an overnight ferry and takes approximately 16 hours. This route is offered by Viking Line and Tallink Silja.
