Trains in Latvia are operated by VIVI. The main hub is the capital Riga.
Most trains in Latvia are 2nd class regional trains and a reservation is not possible, except for the following two routes:
Riga - Daugavpils - Indra
- There is a comfort class on once daily trains.
- Reservations (€ 1,40) are recommended for comfort class
Riga - Rezneke
- There is a comfort class on once daily trains.
- Reservations (€ 1,40) are recommended for comfort class
International trains
There are a few direct international trains from Latvia to neighbouring countries, such as a direct train to Lithuania and a connection with a change to Estonia.
Riga - Tallinn (Estonia)
- Once daily direct passenger train.
- Connecting two Baltic capitals and countries once again.
- Please check timetables of the Estonian Railways or our own rail planner.
- No seat reservations possible for this connection
Riga – Valga (Estonia)
- The last stop of the Riga - Valga line is on Estonian territory. Here you can change to an Estonian train directly to Tartu and Tallinn.
- Please check timetables of both, the Latvian Railways and the Estonian Railways, since schedules are not necessarily well connected.
- No seat reservations possible for this connection, only in 1st class between Valga and Tallinn
Riga – Jelgava – Siauliai – Vilnius (Lithuania)
- Once daily direct passenger train.
- Connecting two Baltic capitals and countries once again.
- Mandatory seat reservation (€5).
- Reservations an be bought through LTG Link.

Daugavpils - Vilnius (Lithuania)
- Currently, there is no international train on this route. At Daugavpils station in Latvia, you can catch a bus to Turmantas and change to a Lithuanian train that goes to Vilnius or other destinations in Lithuania (note: these buses are not included in your Pass).
International ferries
Latvia has great connections to Sweden and Germany These ferries are not included in the Pass, but Pass holders can get a discount on their passage. Check the benefits portal for more information on these ferries:
Ferries to Germany:
- Liepaja (Latvia) - Travemunde (Germany): this route is offered by Stena Line and takes approximately 27 hours.
Ferries to Sweden
- Ventspils (Latvia) - Nynäshamm (Sweden): this route is offered by Stena Line and takes around 7,5 hours.

Latvian train stations
The central railway station in Riga is the main station in Latvia. All domestic routes leave from this station. There are several services you can make use of:
